Our team wanted to help the Savannah community develop better sustainability initiatives. There are many resources available to help large businesses to improve their sustainability practices, but fewer available to small or middle sized businesses that cannot afford expensive certifications or consultancies to support their aspirations. We interviewed dozens of business leaders and green minds around Savannah to find out what resources would be most helpful to these thought leaders. Based on our research, we determined that they would benefit most from stronger connections with one another. In order to facilitate the development of this network, we organized an event we called Green Speed Dating at Cha Bella in Savannah. Our guests participated in a speed dating-like event that prompted them to spend five minutes with each other guest brainstorming potential collaborations between their companies, or "second dates", that could help fill in gaps in their performance and help them reach their sustainability goals. By leaning on each other, these Savannah companies can improve their footprint and make the city a greener place to live.
